For starters, this was my very first time going to the MET, and I must say that I was extremely overwhelmed, I mean the place is huge so who wouldn't be. I went to the 2nd floor where the photography section is located and I visited the Julia Margaret Cameron exhibit. I am a fan of portraits, so when I walked into the exhibit and saw that it was full of people portraits I was very excited. It's was a very interesting exhibition, the pictures were very mysterious looking, spooky almost, I believe that this is why I liked them so much. The pictures were also a bit sad looking, I do not remember seeing anyone smiling or joyous looking. As a matter of fact, the people in the pictures looked tired, most of them had extreme bags under their eyes. I also noticed that the pictures had a slight blur to them, it seemed to give the pictures a dusty effect, which in my opinion helped add to the spookiness of the photos. The people in these photos look like hard working people or just people that have been through hard times but they do not look like people of extreme wealth. Being that my personal project is going to be portraits of people, this exhibition was very inspiring to me and extremely helpful in terms of me finding a good way to approach taking the photos for my personal project. Below is my favorite photo that I saw at the exhibit.
